Our story begins in 2011, when Tekizma founder and CEO Nilu Kundagrami’s daughter was misdiagnosed for several months before receiving a correct diagnosis of lymphoma. Nilu vigilantly monitored every decision made about his daughter’s care. At the same time, he thought about other patients with more complicated cancers for whom a late diagnosis could cost their lives. He envisioned a tool that would provide proactive oversight of treatment recommendations, identifying errors before they impact patients.
Meanwhile, Nilu spearheaded the delivery of three state-sponsored health benefit exchanges. During this time, he realized that each exchange had only partially developed their own solution to the problem of discrepencies within: health eligibility data. As a result, the burden of resolving these discrepancies fell to healtcare consumers. To address the need for a tool to reconcile these discrepancies, Kundagrami teamed up with other individuals who shared his passion for healthcare and technology. They co-founded Tekizma in 2015 and launched their first product, Tekizma Recon Suite, the following year. Today, Tekizma continues to develop technology that transforms healthcare, streamlines delivery of quality care, and empowers health IT users and healthcare consumers, alike.
